Privacy Policy

Short version: this site sets no tracking cookies, collects no personal information about you, shows no advertising, and does not profile or sell anything about its readers. That is why you have never been asked to accept a cookie banner here.

What is measured

Two analytics tools run on this site. Both are cookieless by design.

• Cloudflare Web Analytics records page views, referring sites, country, browser and operating system, and Core Web Vitals performance data.
• Umami (EU region) records the same broad page-view data, and is used to count events such as which pages are read to the end.

Neither tool sets a cookie, writes to local storage for tracking, or assigns you a persistent identifier. Neither can follow you across other websites. Visitor counts are worked out from a salted hash that is rotated and discarded, so there is no way for me, or for them, to reconstruct an individual reader's history.

The practical consequence is that my analytics are deliberately blunt. I can see that a page was read two hundred times. I cannot see who read it, and I would rather keep it that way.

What is stored on your device

One thing, and it is not tracking. If you switch between the light and dark theme, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key theme, so the site remembers it next time. It never leaves your device and is not sent anywhere. Clearing your browser storage removes it.

Who else is involved

• Netlify hosts the site and processes server logs, including IP addresses, as part of delivering pages to you.
• Cloudflare and Umami process the analytics described above.

If you email me, I hold that email in order to reply to you. Nothing more is done with it, and it is not added to any list.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, and under the GDPR if you are in the European Economic Area, you may ask what personal data is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Given that this site collects no personal data through analytics, in practice such a request will concern any email correspondence between us.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it. If a tracking tool were ever added that required your consent, it would not be added silently.
